Wyatt McKenzie to step down as Lieutenant Governor

Harry Kennedy Avatar

Only weeks after being sworn in for a second time, Wyatt McKenzie announces he is taking a break and stepping down as Lieutenant Governor of San Andreas, effective on March 1st.

In a release, the outgoing Lieutenant Governor explain his decision.

This decision was not made lightly, however as I look into the future, I do not feel I can continue to serve as an effective right hand. I will be spending more time with extended family in the great state of Kentucky, while maintaining McKenzie Enterprises here in San Andreas.

Jax Hendrix will be nominated to become the new Lieutenant Governor.

Wyatt McKenzie has been a steadfast and dedicated public figure for almost half a decade. Starting as a journalist at CNT, he covered a number of important stories, including the infamous impeachment of William Benning, he found his way into politics after leaving his role at CNT and departing from the San Andreas Flight Authority.

Wyatt joined the Vlad Tod administration as Secretary of State, spearheading a number of projects and various committees. Wyatt then helped score Karmen McKenzies narrow electoral victory in late 2022. Wyatt then departed the Secretary of State role, joining the Department of Labor and Commerce.

He spent his time in DoCL climbing the ranks and reforming the organization, shaping it into a more prosperous and public facing department after years of sustained criticisms against DoCL for being a secretive and corrupt organization.

He returned to politics after a year with DoCL, jumping into the State Representative role during the chaotic 10th congress. Providing a steady-hand and guiding the legislature through a tumultuous four months.

McKenzie then jumped back to the executive, joining Governor Barbant’s election campaign. After winning in a landslide, he stayed on, and was re-elected by default for a second term earlier this month.

McKenzies departure from politics leaves behind a legacy of state-building, process and dependable politics. He has set the standard for what a politician should be, and will leave behind the hitchhikers guide on how to do politics in the state. Possibly the most recognizable figure in politics may be departing, but it opens the door for many more Wyatt’s to join in the future.

Serving as the 11th Lieutenant Governor has been an honor of my life, we have made great strides in public trust, and am so proud that we have the highest approval rating recorded in our state’s history.

All that remains to be seen is if the dynamic in the second Barbant Administration changes with this dramatic shift.
