From Gang Ties to Family Vibes: The Evolution of Pizza This

San Andreas has always had a special place for Pizza This, a pizzeria that has served the community with its unique flavors and local charm. Now, under the new ownership of Sofie “Sof” Martinez, the pizzeria is entering a new chapter—one that promises innovation while staying true to its roots.

A Family Legacy

Sofie Martinez inherited Pizza This with her father, Davy Longmire, after they purchased the business from the original owner, Ciri. Ciri was known for being selective about who would take over the restaurant, wanting someone who would preserve its spirit. Sofie and her father fit the bill perfectly. “My father started working at Pizza This, and together we bought it from Siri, who didn’t want to just let it go to anyone,” Sofie shared.

For Sofie, owning Pizza This is more than just a business venture—it’s a personal journey. “I’ve managed and co-owned many businesses in San Andreas, but I’ve been let down by them. I wanted something to truly call my own,” she explained.

New Beginnings with a Respect for the Past

While Sofie is committed to honoring the pizzeria’s legacy, she’s also looking forward to making some changes. She’s considering a rebrand, with a new name and logo, but she wants her staff to be involved in the decision. “They are just as much a part of this business as I am,” she said, reflecting the deep sense of family that defines her management style.

Under Sofie’s leadership, Pizza This is moving away from its past associations with gang affiliations and is embracing a more law-abiding, family-friendly environment. This shift is reflected in the menu as well, with new signature dishes that are sure to become fan favorites.

New Signature Dishes

  • Scoville’s Delight: A daring ghost pepper pizza that not only packs a punch with its spice but also delights the eyes with mozzarella balls shaped like little ghosts.
  • Hawaiian Debate: A playful nod to the age-old argument over pineapple on pizza, this dish is designed to spark conversation and satisfy those who love the sweet and savory combination.

Despite these new additions, classics like the pepperoni and mushroom pizza and indulgent desserts such as Deep Fried Cheesecake and Vanilla Buzz continue to draw in loyal customers.

A Community-Driven Future

Sofie’s vision for Pizza This extends beyond just food. She’s currently hiring staff, including cooks, clerks, and security, to support the restaurant’s growth. Her sister, Willow Ostanov, and her uncle, Marshal Davis, have been instrumental in driving recent innovations, from designing advertisements to crafting new marketing strategies.

Pizza This is also collaborating with Harlow Greene of O’Hana Car Wash for a grand re-opening event that will showcase the Hawaiian Debate pizza. The celebration will take place in the plaza near Pizza This, which Sofie hopes to transform into an event center for the restaurant and other local businesses.

Moreover, Sofie is committed to giving back to the community. She’s working with the Department of Human Services (DHS) to provide monthly food donations to support their efforts. In addition, she’s partnering with Arthur Pendragon of Honeycomb Café to have two items imported and sold at his café.

A Safe Haven for All

Ultimately, Sofie’s vision for Pizza This is simple yet profound. “I want Pizza This to become a place where people from all walks of life can come and sit down and enjoy each other’s company over pizza and drinks. I want it to be a safe haven for any and all,” she said.

With her leadership, Pizza This is set to continue being a cherished spot in San Andreas, offering not just great food, but also a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for the entire community.
