Yesterday, Shout News broke the story that State Representative Cassie Kendrick was stepping down from her position as a state rep. As the term is not yet half over, this normally triggers a Special Election; however, there have been exceptions in past terms. The 10th Congress has confirmed that we will have a new Special Election, passing the resolution in a 4-0 vote.

As per usual, the election will have three stages: registration, campaigning, and voting. The dates for the Special Election are as follows:

Registration: July 4th – 7th
Campaign: 7th – 12th
Voting: 12th – 15th

This is a relatively truncated campaign cycle, and so candidates will have to be prepared to establish their platform and win over voters during the five day campaign cycle. Candidates must not have committed any felonies in the last three months. Shout News will continue to report on the Election as registration and the campaign begins.
