Lead by Speaker James Hill, the 12th Congress’ legislature gets underway.
At their first meeting, on Mount Gordo, the three representatives elected a Speaker, a Treasurer and a Secretary.
James Hill is taking on the role of Speaker, with Amara Fox-Vazquez taking on the role of the Treasurer and John Corranado taking on the role of Secretary.
Our work has now begun, all three Representatives outlined their proposals at the meeting with Representative Fox-Vazquez going one step further in submitting a Bill already!
Watching the work of this Congress at this early stage is incredibly exciting and I have no doubt in my mind that all Representatives will push as hard as we can to ensure not only good but also effective policy for all.

Representative Fox-Vazquez introduced a new constitutional amendment, fixing a condition which allowed presently incarcerated individuals the ability to run from office. A Constitutional Amendment is first voted on by three court justices, and then voted on by the three representatives.
Representative Corranado introduced a new law to allow to repeal and replace the current Business Background Checks. The representative explains in the legislation:
The purpose of this bill is to update the processes for business background checks to align them with the current best practices in San Andreas. […]
The repealed bill restricts business owners in San Andreas regarding how they can effectively conduct background checks. This bill aims to provide more options for obtaining consent for background checks conducted by business owners. The bill will streamline the background check process for everyone involved, making it easier to give or receive consent and conduct background checks more efficiently for business owners.
Business Background Checks Act of 2025
Both bills will be voted on by the legislature in the coming weeks.
In executive news, Governor Barbant has started off his second term with a round of nominations. Firstly, nominating Jax Hendrix for the position of Lieutenant Governor, after the sudden retirement of Wyatt McKenzie. The governor also nominated Nadia Koslova for the position of Secretary of State, and nominated George Thoreau to become the next Commissioner for the Department of Labor and Commerce.
I think I speak for the entire Legislature when I say we are all very excited for this term, and we cannot wait to show our proposals! As always, we are all available to be reached out to.
We would also encourage everyone to attend the public meetings to see your Legislature at work.
