Kasper Kandinsky, an entrepreneur who co-owns two businesses with his wife, was sentenced to 35 years in Boilingbroke State Penitentiary today on second-degree murder charges. Kandinsky pled guilty to the charges of aggravated second degree murder and attempted aggravated second degree murder. Judge Sunny Dae-Cavanagh spoke on both the need for justice for the deceased, Ronald Thatcher’s, family as well as possible rehabilitation before passing along the sentence. Kandinsky will also have to pay a $30,000 fine.

The prosecution, represented by Magnus McCready, argued that Kandinsky’s actions had lacked empathy and insight. The prosecution argued that these crimes justified a life sentence, with a chance for parole in 25 years. McCready argued that such actions made it difficult to even consider Kandinsky human; Judge Dae-Davanagh would refute this statement in her judgment. The defense, who appeared scattered and disorganized, spoke about the contributions that Kandinsky makes to the community and his family. A small crowd of the Kandinsky family showed up to support Kasper in court.
