She says that officers are expected to provide their name and badge number, however it isn&#8217;t policy, and has no type of enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-container-core-quote-is-layout-1 wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Its not in the SOP&#8217;s, however we require them to give it if asked. We would like for them to do so, its not in the SOP&#8217;s<\/p>\n<cite>Julie Lee, LSPD Chief<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Attorney Matt Murdank has challenged the legislature to create and pass a law which requires police to identify themselves sufficiently when requested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Interview with Matt Murdank about Police Identification\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0wjEFblha5A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>The statement from the Chief of Police has sparked outrage on social media with users taking to various platforms to question this policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;put in an IA if an officer hits you&#8221; and now &#8220;Officers are not required to give their name or badge number&#8221; that is the most counterproductive bullshit I have ever heard<\/p>\n<cite>@Apothecary<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>If a member of the public is injurjed by a PD officer, and an IA is launched, does the member of the public get updates on this also? And if not, why? They were involved in the incident! They really need to put that in their SOP. Or in the law over all. The people should have the right to know the name of the officer who hit them. Just my input.<\/p>\n<cite>@AlexandraSto95<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>LSPD have confirmed after the meeting that they are looking into adding a clause in the Standard Operating Procedures to include police identification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An anonymous caller into the news office said that Police are required by law to identify if they are involved in a car accident. Another caller has said that the US Marshals or FIB should charge officers with Hit and Run if they fail to stop if involved in a car accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What are your thoughts?
