In the evening of Saturday, August 24th, Secretary of the Legislature Maxine Finch publicly released the meeting notes<\/a> from the Legislature\u2019s meeting on August 10th (roughly two weeks after the meeting occurred). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meeting, our State Representatives discussed the bills they\u2019ve been working on, as well as submitting bills for public review. No bills were voted on in this meeting, but here\u2019s some of the highlights of what they talked about:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Patient Health Act<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

While at the time of this meeting this bill was still being worked on, this bill has since been published for review (you can find it here!<\/a>) by Representative Jack Burton. At the time of this meeting, they were waiting for final approval from the San Andreas Medical Services to push the bill forward.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Consumer Rights Act<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Reportedly being worked on by Representative Burton, this would be the first bill focusing on consumer rights in the State of San Andreas if it is introduced.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

Traffic Laws<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Burton is also reportedly working on an all-encompassing Roads and Highways bill, which will include a Stop and Go bill – A law that would allow individuals to stop at stop lights, check that the intersection is clear, and then continue travel even if the light is still red. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

Civil Speedy Trial Act \/ Criminal Speedy Trial Act<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Legislature is reportedly working with the Judiciary to no longer amend the CLAM Act, but to repeal it and replace it with a Civil Speedy Trial Act (Civil STA). It was also mentioned that they\u2019re pursuing amendments to the Criminal Speedy Trial Act, particularly to make it a legal requirement for Law Enforcement to contact a Judge for bail hearings if an individual pleads not guilty while a Judge is available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Penal Code Adjustments<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Representative Maxine Finch reportedly plans to make some amendments to the Penal Code, specifically in regards to drug scheduling, adjustments regarding marijuana, and making rhino horns an illegal good that cannot be sold or trafficked within San Andreas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nonprofit Organizations<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Representative Wyatt McKenzie is still working on his bill to create legislation around nonprofits in the State, and reportedly plans to meet with some citizens with connections to nonprofits to better structure the bill.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Impeachment of Former Governor Bright-Starr<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

While the notes didn\u2019t reveal much, the Legislature reportedly discussed the proceedings regarding the impeachment process. At this time, there\u2019s no public details about the status of this impeachment process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the detail that most citizens are likely going to be affected by should it pass and become law, is the Stop and Go aspect of Representative Burton\u2019s Roads and Highways bill. This will drastically change the entirety of the State\u2019s traffic, and change how drivers operate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
