Former State Representative Hudson Welsh and other plaintiffs are suing the government of San Andreas for an alleged violation of civil rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As first reported in March, the Department of Justice and Los Santos Police Department were being investigated by the United States Marshals<\/a> for potential charges of abuse of office. Since this reporting the defendants of that case have changed their plea to no-contest, after it was alleged that members of the DOJ and Police had abused their office to charge the defendants with a heightened level of culpability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their filing, the plaintiffs allege:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On docket 2024-CM-057 and during the processing of the associated incident report, each plaintiff was charged with charges that were not supported by probable cause. Neither any officer involved nor the Department of Justice made any effort to amend or otherwise prevent the Plaintiffs from being unfairly and maliciously charged with charges that lacked probable cause. <\/p>\n2024 CV 013 Statement of Claim; Matt Murdank<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This is a claim that the Department of Justice disputed back in March<\/a>, saying that the department conducted an investigation and found that the “charge was not issued in bad faith or with malicious intent.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matt Murdank, who is representing the defendants said that<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each Plaintiff was required to post $69,000 of bail money, for a total of $276,000 of bail money held by the State for the duration of the docket, and each individual’s livelihood and liberty was impacted by the unlawful and tortious decisions of law enforcement officers and members of the Department of Justice.<\/p>\nMatt Murdank<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Department declined to comment at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
